Cheers! TBH I wasn't sure I got Eleven over, idk, Ten or Four. It's hard to translate 'new-born colt with no patience' into anything other than Smith's face.

Awesome, as I'm sure everybody else has said. But no scarf section in the wardrobe? I love the references to past Doctors and his friends. I go right back to the beginning. I sorta feel there should be jelly babies for this!

Thank you! But there are scarves, it's just really tiny (next to Three's impressive velvet collection).

In a good way.

Here from Copperbadge's LJ
This is just... amazing. I'm actually rather lost for what to say. I'll try and go image by image.

Floor Zero: *giggles* "Where Things Happen", indeed.
I love the idea of there being a Café, is that actually canon?
Also I find the fact that there is an entire section of the wardrobe just for hats exceedingly charming for some reason.

Floor AX-11: I adore libraries and I can't help but think that I could live quite happily in this one.
I love that "Lies" is right on the very edge of the "Unknown" as well as the regretful nostalgic feeling that exists in there being a section for things "You Would Have Written if You'd Had the Time".

Floor 17-J: I love this! Just the idea of walking through a door in the TARDIS and suddenly stepping into what is basically a whole world!
I'd love to go to the place that's always raining, I wonder if it's warm rain or cold...
I adore the fact that there's a place for "Lost Souls" which I feel is very "Doctor-y" and am rather curious if one could actually visit that place without becoming one of them.
The thing that makes this map though is the fact that the mountains are "borrowed". *laughs* I can't help but think that they were probably stolen 800+ years ago and are covered in red grass.

Floor Donut: This is possibly my favourite floor, it's just so fun and carefree seeming! I can totally see Eleven spending a great deal of time here especially at the Sidewalk. I can just see him with his shoes off and his jacket thrown haphazardly behind him; he'd probably be kneeling down and looking confused while Amy giggled madly at the chalk dust on his nose.

Floor Nelson: I can't think of much to say about this one except that the design is brilliant; it took me a moment to figure it out then I literally gasped in awe.

Floor 809: Beautiful, just beautiful.

Floor Tuesday: The love and heartache is what gets me here. I know the size doesn't necessarily mean anything, but the fact that "A Better Life" is one of the smallest dots on there still breaks my heart.

Floor 12: This picture is utterly gorgeous! It makes me feel overwhelmed in much the same way huge stain-glass windows do where all I can do is stare with tears running down my face because it is so touching, but I couldn't begin to tell anyone why.

Floor Ampersand (favourite word ever btw): This just really makes me want to plant a garden in that shape, I bet it'd look lovely. After watching the DW episodes with the Angels though I'm not sure I'd go into any room with that many shadows and statues. *laugh*

Ultimately this whole thing is beautiful and quirky, youthful and old, happy and yet so sad at times. It's like everything I think and love about Doctor Who summed up in 17 images and just like the show it makes me want to go and explore more than anything. I will definitely be trying to get these on a huge poster for my dorm just so I can look at them everyday. ♥

Oof thank you for the epic comment. Frame by frame!

1. The cafe isn't canon, but there has to be at least a kitchen. April's Who magazine (which just came out in my city today, and has a whole thing about TARDIS rooms, and I lol'd for days and then cried at all my canon failures) points out people gotta be eating that food from somewhere. Aside from the Food Machine in the first-first episode.

2. It is, straight-up, a Borgesian library, the idea of which has entranced me since I was a tiny pretentious tween.

3. Hah, I kind of pictured Four just being like, you don't need these at the moment, back in a tic, and stealing the whole range from beneath the wise man on the mountaintop. But oh, yes, Gallifrey, I'm still so bummed it's been time-bubbled.

4. All drawing mathematically complex hopscotch squares, yep.

5. Would it break the illusion to say it's just an extension of my inability to properly use 3D modeling programs?

8. Awwwww have a dimensionally-transcendent tissue.

N. Anyway thank you! Cheers.

i'm just gonna repeat everyone: this is so so so awesome, *draws hearts*
& it really makes me wish even more for a whole episode that takes part inside the tardis... it would be SO SHINY!

ha ha icon! awesome
Thank you! There were a few episodes, if you're interested, during Tom Baker's era, "The Invasion of Time" and "The Masque of Mandragora" which are awesome in general but also specifically a huge inspiration for this thing. Also "Castrovalva" a little bit. But having one now, with all the special effects and brilliant cinematography, my heart would probably explode.

*waves* Hello! Another anon here.

Just wanted to say that this is absolutely gorgeous. Consider me in total awe.

I came back for a second look so that I could show my children. It's absolutely brilliant in all ways. I hope you don't mind but your compass directions inspired me to make an icon with the same information.

I don't mind at all! Plus your version is old-map sexy. I'm super-pleased to have the idea spread. To be honest, I got the idea from my dad, who always reads maps in terms of left/right rather than east/west, which meant we got lost on vacation a lot. And, although I greatly appreciate fandom's approval, there's something extra-special about having kids see it, the heart of the show is really childhood imagination, and...idek. I ramble. But cheers!

Please add me to the list of people who would buy this if you came out with a print version. You have all my internet love for the day. All of it. This is the TARDIS that my Doctor sails in.

This is mind-blowingly awesome. Really really fantastic. The art is completely gorgeous, and the names of the places within the TARDIS are both funny and beautiful. omg. ♥

May. 24th, 2010 05:15 pm (UTC)
Just chiming in to say how much I love this--it's not like you've heard that at all, right? *grin*

My favorites are Floor J17 (cause I love maps) and Floor Donut, although they are all wonderful.

I CAN NEVER HEAR IT TOO MUCH. I actually keep several people locked up in the basement just to tell me how awesome I am at regular intervals during the day. Cheers!
May. 24th, 2010 08:11 pm (UTC)
I'm a member of this comm but it's not on my reading list... I got the link from a friend who got it off i09 and then I found it again on the TARDIS scanner blog. I just showed it to my co-workers and they were amazed, one was like "You have to give me the URL so I can show my kids!"

All in all, fantastic. I think I like the catacombs and Floor Looks-like-it-tried-to-read-a-binary-file-on-the-screen the best. I love all the quirky titles. A place for cats! (disused). I will be poring over these in more detail when I get home, that's for sure :)

Kudos, well-done, very creative work!

This is beauteous. Utterly.

It seriously feels like something the PTB should produce and market as merch. I don't know if you know Firefly or Serenity, but it reminds me a bit of the map of the 'verse that was done for that show/movie, as being something that you never got to see all of on screen, but could spend ages poring over and gleeing at all the little bits.

May. 24th, 2010 10:22 pm (UTC)
Cheers! I enjoyed Firefly, but did not know about the maps. I just googled, you're right, they're lovely. There's something about that sort of tie-in ephemera I've always enjoyed, it sort of reminds me of that era of independent music where you'd open up the album packaging and all these pictures and notes would fall out.
